Sauna yurts
Handcrafted yurt saunas
A small sauna yurt costs less to build than a full-size yurt and needs little space. Built by hand, sized 10, 12 or 14 ft across.
Materials
- Canvas
- 12-ounce fire and rot retardant, breathable poly-cotton canvas, inside and outside.
- Insulation
- 4–6 inch hemp wool. Felt is possible, but hemp wool is better for this climate. Other options are also available.
- Frame
- Straight 2×2 cedar rafters
- Roof
- An insulated roof cap with a steam vent keeps the heat in. A glass dome skylight is optional.
- Stove
- A wood stove sits near the wall, not in the middle.
Platform, bench & setup
- Platform
- Made from treated decking boards. I can build as a movable one.
- Bench
- A half-circle bench, on request.
- Installation
- I can come and set up the sauna and its platform. Travel and setup costs depend on where you live.
